Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach year round?

Yes we do! We teach in an indoor pool, that it heated to 86 degrees, with accessible locker rooms and bathrooms.

What do I bring to my first lesson?

-A swimsuit

-Towel (Towels are available at the front desk of the club if you do not wish to bring your own)

-Any bath toys your child loves to play with

- Goggles if desired

-A swim diaper or swim cover for cloth diapers if your child is not potty trained. Please do not use a regular diaper.

-We also recommend a dry change of clothes for after the lesson. Locker rooms are available for changing.

What is my first lesson going to look like?

At your first lesson, your instructor will talk with you about your goals, any special accommodations you or your child need, and above all begin to build trust with you and your child. Through directive play, your instructor will determine your child’s skill level and comfort level in the water before moving on to instruction and skill building.

Can I bring guests?

Absolutely! You are welcome to bring any family or friends you wish.  Guests are asked to sit in designated viewing areas and not enter the water.

Can I take pictures/videos?

We encourage it! Share them with your friends and family, show them to your child in between lessons to get them excited about getting back in the pool! We ask that if you share them on social media, please tag Breakwater Swim Club!  We have a Facebook and an Instagram page.

Do I need to get in the water too?

No. Our instructors are trained to work with students of all ages and work best 1 on 1 with you or your child.  However, if you would like to arrange a “Parent Taught” lesson, please discuss it with your instructor.
